Bolle Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Wine

We partnered with Bolle, a producer of premium non-alcoholic sparkling wine founded by Roberto Vanin in Treviso, in the north of Italy.

Most alcohol-free sparkling wines are made by removing the alcohol from a finished wine, and that process strips out the structure, aroma and texture along with it. What is left is usually sweet and thin, and it rarely earns a place on a good list.

Bolle works differently. After de-alcoholisation the wine is fermented a second time, using a proprietary low alcohol yeast and grape juice, which rebuilds the body, aroma and fine natural mousse that the process removes. It is the only non-alcoholic wine in the world made this way, and it is the reason the range tastes like wine rather than a substitute for it.

The wines are made from Chardonnay, Silvaner and Pinot Noir across a small group of partner wineries in Italy, Germany and California, with two full-time winemakers overseeing production. The whole range is vegan, has no added sugar and sits below 0.5% ABV.

Bolle's Sparkling Rosé holds 93 points from Wine Enthusiast, the highest score given to a non-alcoholic wine, and the range is poured in more than 100 Michelin-starred restaurants. It was the first alcohol-free wine listed by Berry Bros. & Rudd.

For us the fit is straightforward. We judge everything we carry on taste first, and Bolle is the first non-alcoholic sparkling wine we have found that stands on its own terms rather than as a concession. It gives our customers something proper to offer guests who are not drinking, with the provenance, the craft and the margin of a serious wine.

80% Chardonnay and 20% Silvaner, grown in La Mancha. Citrus led, with lemon, grapefruit and lime over tropical mango and green apple, finishing dry with a gentle toastiness. 91 points, Wine Enthusiast.

Bolle Sparkling Rosé

75% Chardonnay, 15% Pinot Noir and 10% Silvaner. Pale pink, with sweet strawberry, blackcurrant and cherry, a fine bead and a long mineral finish. 93 points from Wine Enthusiast, the highest score given to a non-alcoholic wine. This is the one we would recommend to anyone stocking a single alcohol-free line.

Sourcing and sustainability

Bolle works with sustainably farmed grapes and produces across a small group of partner wineries in Italy, Germany and California, with two full-time winemakers overseeing the process. The whole range is vegan, with no animal derived fining agents used at any stage.

As with everything we carry, it leaves us in plastic free packaging, and deliveries across Greater London are made by electric van.
